What is a ballast?
A ballast is a device which regulates the amount of current in an electrical circuit and provides enough voltage to produce light. To modify your fixture for LED bulbs, we encourage our customers to bypass their ballast. Why? Because it is not necessary! LED bulbs require such low wattage that they don't need the extra energy. Additionally, LED bulbs are often incompatible with ballasts, especially older ones. If an incompatible ballast and driver come in contact in a fixture, it can damage the LED bulb, causing it to malfunction.
